Several months ago, Lifetime TV announced Broad Focus, an effort to put more women in all sorts of positions behind the camera as directors, producers, writers, and content developers. Lifetime recently announced how well it’s working.
Five of those Lifetime movies are the top five movies in ad-supported cable for women 25-49. They are: Alex Kalymnios’s Cleveland Abduction, Angela Bassett’s Whitney, Rachel Goldenberg’s A Deadly Adoption, Vanessa Parise’s Perfect High, and Nzingha Stewart’s With This Ring.
As Lifetime put it in this Tumblr post, “The Top Original Movies in 2015 on Ad-Supported Cable were directed by women. And we’re just getting started.”
