Big fan of the TV show Cristela here. The show only lasted one season, which was a shame because it was a great show. It was named after the star Cristela Alonzo. It was about 3 generations of Mexican Americans living in the same house. It was pointed and it was hilarious.
Pointed and hilarious is also true of Cristela Alonzo: Lower Classy, an hour of standup with Cristela filmed in her home state of Texas. It’s available on Netflix. If you have Netflix, you must add this funny woman to your watch list and you must watch her as soon as possible. If you are in a city that she brings her comedy show to, you owe it to yourself to have a good time by going to see her.
Her jokes cover a lot of territory, most of it from a Mexican American slant, some of it from a first-generation immigrant perspective, some of it personal about family and relationships. Whatever her topic, she is funny, funny, funny.
