Trailers and News from Comic Con SDCC

Gal Gadot in Wonder Woman

There is so much news and hype coming out of the San Diego Comic Con. I’m not interested in most of it, but I’m very interested in some of it. Here are some of the things I’m watching happen in San Diego.

Wonder Woman

The Wonder Woman trailer from SDCC dropped with a new, very feminist, heroine out to save the world. Not sure how that slavery remark is going to go over. Want to bet it disappears in the final cut?

Wonder Woman starring Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Connie Nielsen and Robin Wright will be in theaters June 2017.

Wynonna Earp

The Wynonna Earp team announced that the show will get a second season – only 10 episodes, but, hey, we’ll take it. The cast was pretty happy about the news, too. Shamier Anderson couldn’t contain it.

#Earpers, can we get a hallelujah? #WynonnaEarp RENEWED for season 2! #SDCC2016 just got more badass. 🙌 🙌 🙌 pic.twitter.com/Z1KBTblHBx

Luke Cage

If Jessica Jones introduced the female audience to Luke Cage just to build up interest in this bulletproof African American hero, it worked. I plan to watch Mike Colter save Harlem this fall, with fingers crossed that Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) might show up for a cameo or three.

Defenders

Speaking of Jessica Jones, she will be one of the Defenders this fall, along with Daredevil, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist. This show features Mike Colter, Finn Jones, Charlie Cox, and Krysten Ritter. Eka Darville who was in Jessica Jones as the neighbor down the hall will be present as well. Fingers crossed Rachael Taylor makes the crossing from Jessica Jones into one of both of these new shows.

The Man in the High Castle

Season 1 of The Man in the High Castle was a brilliant, alternate reality look at World War II. I’m looking forward to watching Alexa Davalos in season 2.

Captain Marvel

Brie Larson is going to be Carol Danvers in Captain Marvel. It will be 2019 before we can see this one, but Brie looks pretty happy about it.

Black Panther

Danai Gurira was confirmed as a new cast member for Black Panther, which already had announced such fabulous cast members as Lupita Nyong’o and Chadwick Boseman. We have to wait until July 2018 for this film.

Lupita tweeted this selfie photo with Chadwick Boseman, Michael B Jordan, Danai Gurira, herself and others.

Orphan Black

No video for tweet for you from Orphan Black, just a link to a delightful summary of the SDCC panel put together by BBC America.

Did I miss anything you found especially newsworthy from SDCC?
