Shirley MacLaine and Amanda Seyfried star in The Last Word. It’s a part Shirley MacLaine has played several times before – the curmudgeonly control freak that no one can stand. But the foil for her excesses in the past has always been some hapless young man. Now she’s up against Amanda Seyfried. It should make things pop.
For all the years and in all the movies that I have watched with Shirley MacLaine, she never once let me down. The Last Word is obviously another must-see.
The film will be out in March. Here’s the synposis: “As Harriet Lauler (MacLaine), a once successful businesswoman in tight control of every aspect of her life reflects upon her accomplishments, she’s suddenly inspired to engage a young local writer, Anne Sherman (Seyfried), to pen her life’s story. When the initial result doesn’t meet Harriet’s high expectations, she sets out to reshape the way she is remembered, with Anne dragged along as an unwilling accomplice. As the journey unfolds, the two women develop a unique bond which alters not only Harriet’s legacy, but also Anne’s future.”
Other actors in The Last Word include Anne Heche, Thomas Sadoski, Philip Baker Hall, Tom Everett Scott, and young newcomer AnnJewel Lee Dixon.
The Last Word is scheduled to premier at Sundance, so we should see reviews and find out more about it before it hits theaters in March.
