Call Her Alex is a two part documentary telling Alexandra Cooper’s story from childhood through her rise to success at the head of the very popular podcast Call Her Daddy.

Call Her Alex is partly a life story, partly a hard work leads to success story, and partly a documentation of Alex Cooper’s first ever tour where she was in front of a live audience and not behind a microphone out of sight. There are only two episodes, but the series succeeds in documenting where Alex Cooper is now and how she got here.

I am so far beyond the demographic for Call Her Daddy that I had never heard of it or her before she interviewed Vice President Kamala Harris during the last election campaign. But I watched that interview and it was so well done that if I never watched or heard another thing by Alex Cooper I would hold her up for respect.

She started the podcast with a friend. They talked about sex and relationships in a frank and open way. The kind of open, raunchy talk about sex usually reserved for men. She built her brand on that. She’s grown a lot since then. Through it all she’s emphasized women’s rights, women’s bodily autonomy, and women’s power.

As a child and in college, she was a soccer star. She attended Boston University on a full ride soccer scholarship. She opens up in the documentary about her coach in college, a situation the university has not investigated or acknowledged.

She’s smart. She’s good at business. She’s creative. She’s a performer. She’s unafraid to say anything. Women love her and are inspired by her. She’s young and has a handle on media and communication that will bring her even greater success as she continues to grow.
