Star Trek: Section 31 is a wild space adventure. I found the plot hard to understand – something about being all powerful and saving the world – but it has Michelle Yeoh so we’re watching it!
I loved the space ships in Star Trek: Section 31. If space ships could be muscle cars, there would be a couple of them in this movie. Well, not the garbage barge, but a couple of the others were awesome.

I also thought the cast was lovely and well chosen. The image above doesn’t show San (James Hiroyuki Liao) who was an important character. Philippa Georgiou (Michelle Yeoh) and San competed to be Emperor of their world. She won by being more ruthless than he was, but San was her love interest/nemesis through the story anyway.
The majority of the story happens after Philippa is no longer Empress, but is running a bar in space. A bunch of Starfleet characters show up. Those are the folks in the photo. One of them is human, one is a bald succubus, one is a shape shifter, one is a tiny bug inside a robotic full-sized body – the usual space assortment.
We get to see Michelle Yeoh kick butt and fling people through the air. There’s bang up action and lots of it. They have a space battle using garbage as the weapon. It’s silly but it’s fun. If you’re a Star Trek fan or a Michelle Yeoh fan I’m sure you’ll want to see it. It isn’t very good, but don’t let that stop you.
My favorite part (besides the sexy red space ship) was when Jamie Lee Curtis showed up for 10 seconds at the end to set up a possible second movie with this team.
You can see this one on Paramount+.
