Wyonna Earp is off to a demon hunting start on SyFy. First let’s talk about some of the familiar, known and loved characteristics of this series. You get a kickass but reluctant heroine Wynonna (Melanie Scrofano) who resembles all your favorite such heroines. Think Buffy, Bo Dennis and Jessica Jones. You gotta love Wynonna already. Happy Valley series 2, episode 1 aired on BBC One this week. The series is off to an exciting start. I can’t stop myself from writing about this series. I shall try to restrain myself from writing recaps with so many spoilers for season 2. I did that for season 1. Feel free to mention it if I stray too close to actual recaps or include too many spoilers for those who must wait for Netflix to stream the series.
Writer and director Sally Wainwright sets up a tangled tapestry of strings that will get pulled in the next 5 episodes. Transparent gave Amazon Prime members an early preview with the release of season 2, episode 1 yesterday. The remainer of the season will be available on December 11.
I don’t plan to review or recap each episode individually, but I couldn’t resist commenting on the early release episode 1. I’ll write about the season as a whole after it releases.
