Allure, a 2017 Canadian release, recently came to my attention on Prime Video. This is a very disturbing film about sexual abuse and is definitely not for everyone. Evan Rachel Wood and Julia Sarah Stone both provide brilliant, powerful portrayals.

Review: The Year Dolly Parton Was My Mom

The Year Dolly Parton Was My Mom is such a catchy title, I couldn’t resist giving the film a try. It was charming and touching and quite satisfying.

The 2012 Canadian film was written and directed by Tara Johns, who said that the idea for the story came from her mother’s relationship with Joni Mitchell.
