Two Worlds, One Wish comes from Türkiye. It’s a story with a bit of fairy tale magic and romance woven in. It’s sweet and heartwarming while being a little different.
Two Worlds, One Wish stars Hande Erçel as Bilge, an attorney. Hande Erçel also wrote the story for the movie. Opposite her is Can (Metin Akdülger), an archeologist.
The two of them met as children in a hospital. Bilge had a heart condition. Can had a broken arm. She shared her ice cream with him and reassured him that X-rays were not scary. He makes a wish just as they say goodbye. He never forgot her.
As adults, Can finds a very valuable artifact on a dig. He is returning to Istanbul with it when an approaching car forces him off the road. Someone comes up while he is injured and takes the artifact.
While he’s in a coma, Can talks to Bilge. She hears him and responds. Their love story develops while Can is limbo or wherever he is. While unusual, I have seen other films with similar plots, most notably 2005’s Just Like Heaven.

As they get reacquainted after all those years, they learn that Can is suspected of stealing the artifact. They mix an investigation into who really stole it while deepening their bond and feelings for each other, even though Can remains in a coma.
The chemistry between Metin Akdülger and Hande Erçel was excellent. Both of them were charming and charismatic even across the divide between life and death.
The film does have a satisfying ending, but it’s not the kind of ending you expect in an American love story. The film is in Turkish and can be seen on Prime Video.
