Watch This: Trailer for The Beguiled

Nicole Kidman in The Beguiled

The only thing I remember about the first The Beguiled is that Clint Eastwood was in it. I wouldn’t even guarantee that memory. Now there’s a new The Beguiled directed by Sophia Coppola that promises to be a more female version of the story.

Colin Farrell stars as the man who invades a compound full of women during this Civil War era story. Nicole Kidman, Elle Fanning, Kirsten Dunst, Oona Laurence, Angourie Rice, Emma Howard and Addison Riecke also star.

The film’s synopsis is, “At a girls’ school in Virginia during the Civil War, where the young women have been sheltered from the outside world, a wounded Union soldier is taken in. Soon, the house is taken over with sexual tension, rivalries, and an unexpected turn of events.”

Apparently, the women gather round like a flock of seagulls squawking, “Mine, mine, mine,” when a man appears. Just go with it.

Sophia Coppola appeared at CinemaCon talking about The Beguiled. “There’s so much sexual tension,” Coppola said.

What do you think? Do you plan to go check out the sexual tension in this Western drama? You’ll get to see Nicole Kidman being scary as hell – should be worth it just for that.
