Watch This: Trailer for The White Orchid

The White Orchid is a popular name for films. The 2017 version you’re seeing the trailer for stars Olivia Thirlby in a dark thriller about a murdered girl.

I was impressed with Olivia Thirlby in Goliath. It looks like what she’s doing in this film will be even more impressive. She has 35 acting credits on IMDB, but the only one I’d seen before Goliath is Juno. Whatever she did in Juno, I don’t remember. So. I joined the Olivia Thirlby party a little late, but the important thing is I’m here now.

Written and directed by Steve Anderson, the film also stars John Carroll Lynch, Janina Gavankar, Nichelle Nichols, Brendan Sexton III, and Jennifer Beals.

I don’t see scenes between Janina Gavankar and Jennifer Beals in the trailer, but I always do a tiny reunion jig whenever any two or more actors from The L Word appear in the same place. You can’t see it, but I’m dancing a jig.

Olivia Thirlby in The White Orchid
Do I look like the white orchid now?

Thirlby, as Claire, is sent to investigate a small town murder. She assumes the identity of the murder victim in order to solve the gruesome death. About all those wigs: the murdered girl had blonde hair and was called the white orchid as a nickname.

The release date for the film is an unspecific 2017. Keep an eye out for it.
