Orange is the New Black season begins June 17 on Netflix. There may be some crazy surprises in store.
According to information released at the Television Critics Association press tour, the new season will deal with race, politics and prison overcrowding.
We have favorites coming back, something inexplicable going on with Tastee (Danielle Brooks) and a new character whose face we don’t get to see.
IMDB is showing the cast for episode 4.1, but I’ll be darned if I can figure out who the mystery newcomer is from studying it. Maybe Shannon Esper as Alanna? Sounds like “Elaine” at the end of the trailer, but it might be “Alanna.” I’m very sure it isn’t “Vee,” although some of the frightened looks from the inmates do make you wonder. Blair Brown is joining the cast for season 4, but her character doesn’t seem very scary unless you’re afraid of Paula Dean and Martha Stewart. [I finally figured out that the word at the end of the clip is “inmate” and not a name at all. Silly me and my ancient ears.]
There are a couple of new corrections officers on the roster, too. All in all, I am eager to see it. June seems a long time away.
