Yes Day earns a big YES!

Yes Day is a family comedy that should bring a laugh and a smile to viewers of every age. This brightly colored romp is streaming on Netflix.

Yes Day stars Jennifer Garner as the mom – really, the film had me at Jennifer Garner, who also acted as one of the producers.

I was delighted to discover that the ensemble cast playing the family in this film were all outstanding. The family was mom, Dad (Edgar Ramírez), Katie (Jenna Ortega), Nando (Julian Lerner), and Ellie (Everly Carganilla). The family spoke a mix of English and Spanish among themselves, which is one reason why the film is in a Netflix category called Representation Matters.

The plot is that mom says no all the time as she attempts to keep her wild bunch from danger, in school, and fed. They complain that she’s too restrictive so she and dad plan a yes day. The parents can’t say no to anything (within certain rules).

On yes day, all sorts of crazy and funny things happen. The family being together and doing nutty things is a great bonding experience for them.

One thing that happens is the parents get arrested. The three kids convince a gullible cop that the grandparents are outside the police station to pick them up and off they go to commit more mayhem.

A big cast of supporting people were needed to make this film happen. Most notably, Fortune Feimster, Nat Faxon, Megan Stott, Arturo Castro, and H.E.R. There were dozens of child actors who all did a terrific job.

This film is simply cute and fun and silly. I think I was smiling all the way from beginning to end.

If you watch this one, let me know if you were as enchanted and delighted by it as I was.
