Find Me Falling review, a romcom set in Cyprus

Harry Connick Jr. in Find Me Falling

Find Me Falling stars Harry Connick Jr. in a romcom about a rock star. After his latest album bombs, he buys a house on a cliff in Cyprus. Nobody understands why he’s there, except the woman he left behind years ago.

Find Me Falling is just your average romcom, nothing special. The facts about the movie that drew me in were that it’s the first film shot in Cyprus that Netflix has streamed. South African-Cypriot Stelana Kliris wrote and directed the film. As a look into the scenery, food, and lifestyle in Cyprus the movie is a mini-vacation.

Ali Fumiko Whitney and Harry Connick Jr. in Find Me Falling

One of the first people John meets in his new home is Melina (Ali Fumiko Whitney). She delivers his groceries. He later learns that she sings in the local cafe/bar in the evenings.

Okay, I got a bit ahead of myself. The first person he meets is a guy who wants to throw himself off the cliff outside John’s new home. The sheriff calls it a suicide hot spot. After watching Totally Completely Fine not long ago, I had a clue as to what was coming in regard to the cliff.

Agni Scott in Find Me Falling

The sheriff invites John to the cafe for a drink. There he introduces John to several locals, including the doctor, Sia (Agni Scott). Oh . . . Sia is why he’s here. They know each other from back in the day. She was the girl his hit song “The Girl on the Beach” was about.

Are they still in love? Well, this is a romcom, so take a guess.

Harry Connick Jr. and Agni Scott had zero chemistry. That presents a problem in the quality of a romcom. But there were some interesting surprises in the plot and humorous characters and situations to keep up the pace.

My advice regarding Find Me Falling? Don’t worry. Be happy. Watch a romcom.

  1. I agree on the no chemistry. The setting was really interesting – I’ve never seen a program/movie set in Cyprus and after watching, have no idea why – it’s gorgeous! In terms of the script, it’s very predictable. No surprises here. I watched it while recovering from a not-fun bout of summer Covid and it was the perfect medicine.
