The French Dispatch, from director Wes Anderson, brings a sumptuous feast of visual images, coupled with an all star cast, to a tale about a magazine. The magazine is The French Dispatch of the Liberty, Kansas Evening Sun. This American magazine, published in France, brought news of the world back to the homeland.

The Chair, good but not great

The Chair has a terrific cast with Sandra Oh and Jay Duplass leading a large group of excellent actors. This Netflix dramedy was full of good performances that couldn’t quite pull the 6 episode series over the line into greatness. It was good. It was enjoyable. But not great.

Review: The Politician, season 1

The Politician, the latest production from Brad Falchuk and Ryan Murphy, is equal parts brilliant and scattered. It’s pretentiously adult but set in a high school. Thematically it jumps around from one idea to another and never quite lands. Ryan Murphy regulars abound. Yet overall, it’s wonderful.
