Season 1 of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel took home a little red wagon full of Emmy Awards and has already been promised a 3rd season by Amazon, even though we haven’t seen season 2 of this comedy yet.
A new trailer and a release date of December 5 will whet your appetite for more of this very funny and touching series about a woman who wants to be a comic in a time when women comics barely existed. Amy Sherman-Palladino is the creative mind behind The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
Rachel Brosnahan stars in the title role, with an array of brilliant talent around her including Tony Shalhoub, Alex Borstein, Zachary Levi, Marin Hinkle, and Michael Zegen.
In season 2 of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Midge and her agent/sidekick Susie try to establish Midge as a legitimate comic. Midge wants to be the best there is. She’s got the humor – she’s got plenty of that. But does she have what it takes to develop and act that will work again and again?
Season 2 was described as “very ambitious.” Whether that means Midge or the production remains to be seen. Since a season 3 is in the bag, I’m predicting Midge finds her footing in the world of comedy and surprises everyone with her success.
Here’s my review of season 1, if you need a quick catch up.
Enjoy the trailer. Don’t be freaked out by the opening notes. Rachel Brosnahan does not actually sing exactly like Barbra Streisand. Tits up, ladies!
