Suffragette will premier in the U.S. in late October. It’s premiering in early October in the U.K. at the London Film Festival. There’s a new preview available.

The film deals with the battle for women’s right to vote in late 19th and early 20th Century in England.  Suffragette stars Carey Mulligan and Meryl Streep. Mulligan plays Maud, a wife and working mother who joins a group fighting to secure the right to vote for women. The group’s now-famous leader Emmeline Pankhurst is played by Streep.

Helena Bonham Carter, Ben Whishaw, Brendan Gleeson, Anne-Marie Duff, Romola Garai and Natalie Press also are in the film.

Sarah Gavron directs the film, which was written by Abi Morgan.
