Electric Dreams, or more correctly Phillip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams, is an anthology sci-fi series based on the short stories of Phillip K. Dick. It has 10 stand alone episodes. It’s coming as an Amazon Prime original.
The synopsis reads, “Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams explores humanity in 10 standalone episodes. From 5 to 5000 years in the future, each story in the anthology will question what it means to be human in uniquely ambitious, grounded, yet fantastical worlds.”
Stars in the series include many favorites: Gumuliauskas Vaclovas, Steve Buscemi, Geraldine Chaplin, Essie Davis, Bryan Cranston, Holliday Grainger, Sidse Babett Knudsen, Tuppence Middleton, Anne Reid, Terrence Howard, Anna Paquin, Anneika Rose, Mireille Enos, Vera Farmiga, Janelle Monáe, Maura Tierney.
There are many, many actors in the series, since most appear in only one of the ten episodes. Gumuliauskas Vaclovas is in four episodes, however.
Reading through the list of directors I see Dee Rees and Francesca Gregorini among 8 men.
A few reviewers have seen the first 3 episodes and the reviews have been all over the place. Some loved it, some hated it. This might be one of those series that you have to see to decide for yourself about. Like Black Mirror, each episode is a stand alone, so each episode might best be judged on its own merits.
The exact release date hasn’t been announced, but sometime in 2018.
