Hocus Pocus 2 is a delight. The key cast are back ready to chant their magic spells over the town of Salem and have some fun. The story is full of humor, music, and a new generation of witches. It’s an antidote to the condition of modern life.
Julia, episode 5, “Crepes Suzette” happened to be released during the same week as the finale of Killing Eve. Instead of recapping or reviewing the episode, I’m going to look at some parallels between the two TV shows and their respective casts.
The Glorias is a biopic looking at Gloria Steinem’s life through her travels and at various stages in her life. Julie Taymor wrote and directed the film, which takes 2 hours and 20 minutes to wind its way through Steinem’s long life. The film is streaming on Prime Video.
The Politician, season 2, returned to Netflix with the same ambitious politician engaged in a run for office, much like season 1. All the back-stabbing, conniving, bald-faced lying that we saw in season 1 returned as well.
The Politician, the latest production from Brad Falchuk and Ryan Murphy, is equal parts brilliant and scattered. It’s pretentiously adult but set in a high school. Thematically it jumps around from one idea to another and never quite lands. Ryan Murphy regulars abound. Yet overall, it’s wonderful.
