Sarah Lancashire has two new shows upcoming. They’ve been announced in the UK, but as of yet there’s no word when they’ll reach a distributor in the US. When I hear anything, I’ll mention it on Twitter.
The first is a series starring Richard Gere called MotherFatherSon. It’s hard to tell how big a part Sarah Lancashire has in this one, but she’s definitely in it. Here’s the trailer.
Because this one stars an American, I feel sure it will head for some streamer in the US soon after it completes its run on the BBC.
Gere plays a media mogul. His son Caden (Billy Howle) is set to take over the running of one of the media companies.
Helen McCrory plays Gere’s ex wife. Sarah Lancashire plays an MP, the leader of the opposition. Also in the series are Ciarán Hinds, Elena Anaya, and Sinéad Cusack.
The Light is from writer Jack Thorne, who also wrote Kiri. In this 4 part series, Lancashire plays Polly. She’s the wife of a politician who championed a construction project and is the lead character in the series.
When there’s an explosion at the construction project, Polly tries to hold the community together in the face of the media storm following the explosion.
The UK’s channel 4 press quoted Sarah as saying, “This is the most wonderful opportunity to work with Channel 4, The Forge, and Jack Thorne’s masterly writing once again. The Light is a fiercely powerful piece; shocking and emotive and I feel extremely privileged to be a part of it.”
The news about this one is very fresh, so not much more detail is known. As other parts are cast and a release date approaches, I’ll let you know about it.
