The Wild Robot, from DreamWorks Animation, tells a story of not belonging, finding your place in the world, and thinking for yourself. It’s a beautiful message that will resonate with children. It is rated PG and does have a few scary scenes.

Watch This: Trailer for Queen of Katwe
Queen of Katwe stars David Oyelowo, Lupita Nyong’o, and newcomer Madina Nalwanga in an uplifting tale based on a true story. A young girl who sells corn on the streets of rural Uganda is introduced to the game of chess and her world changes drastically.

Preview: Half of a Yellow Sun
One of the greatest living writers, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie is the author of Half of a Yellow Sun, as well as Purple Hibiscus, and most recently, Americanah. If you have not read her books, I urge you to give them a reading.
