Season 2 of One Mississippi begins on Amazon on September 8. This dark comedy series from Tig Notaro is the partly true story of Tig’s journey home after her mother’s death.
In Season 2 Tig, her stepfather Bill (a hilarious John Rothman) and her brother Remy (Noah Harpster) adapt to living together in their Mississippi home. In season 1, Tig is dealing with her mother’s death, her own very serious health problems, and being with her brother and stepfather. In season 2, she makes the decision to stay in Mississippi with her family.
Tig continues her radio show in Biloxi with producer Kate (Stephanie Allynne, Tig’s real-life wife). Tig’s point of view wafting through the airwaves brings out some funny encounters with the locals. She also gets an offer to do a radio show in New Orleans.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Tig said, “Because Stephanie is my wife and person in real life, I think people assume I’m going to end up with Kate. Will I? I don’t know. Maybe, maybe not. That’s been the fun part of it. It’s all very loosely based in reality, but we’ve been able to run with different storylines.”
Sheryl Lee Ralph joins the cast for season 2. Diablo Cody created the series. Quite a few women writers contributed to season 1, including Tig Notaro. The list of directors for the series hasn’t been updated on IMDB yet, but season 1 used women directors. It’s probably safe to assume season 2 will as well.
Amazon released two teasers. Both are below.
The following teaser contains one new joke from Tig Notaro and some ads from Amazon.
