Funny Women on Netflix

They Ready poster detail

Netflix is promoting women comics. I’ve enjoyed a number of very funny women recently. Here’s a look at Tiffany Haddish Presents: They Ready, Katherine Ryan: Glitter Room, Wanda Sykes: Not Normal, and Whitney Cummings: Can I Touch It?.

Tiffany Haddish Presents: They Ready

This six episode series features women personally picked by Tiffany Haddish. The women are Tracey Ashley, April Macie, Flame Monroe, Aida Rodriguez, Chaunte Wayans, and Marlo Williams.

This diverse group of lesser known comics were picked by Haddish to promote. What a great idea! The women were all funny – filthy mouths, but funny. My favorite was Aida Rodriguez because I thought what she talked about was more relatable.

Katherine Ryan: Glitter Room

Katherine Ryan told funny stories about herself, life in Canada, and she came out with pointed social barbs.

Wanda Sykes: Not Normal

Wanda Sykes makes the personal political with interesting stories that make a comment on the larger social situation. Her hilarious take on life in the current environment is that it’s not normal. Wanda Sykes is the most famous of all these women and for good reason – she’s really smart and funny.

Whitney Cummings: Can I Touch It?

After a very funny hour of barbs and jokes, Cummings unveiled her personal AI sex robot. The robot is as funny as she is. There’s a bit at the end about how tech AI people produced her very own intelligent sex doll.

The thing I like about stand up comedy shows is they usually last only one hour and you’re done with it. If you just have a few minutes to watch TV, a comedy hour is perfect.
