Watch This: Trailer for season 5 of Younger

Sutton Foster in Younger

Season 5 of Younger returns June 5 on TVLand. The trailer indicates that Liza is smacked hard by her moral choice to lie to everyone in her work world.

Sutton Foster as Liza, the 40 something mom pretending to be 26 so she can get a job, has always danced around the choices she’s made for employment. Looks like the secret is out in season 5. I hope that doesn’t mean that season 5 will be the final season for this show. There is so much more that could be done with the topic of ageism in employment.

Miriam Shor in Younger

Miriam Shor plays Liza boss in Younger. She’s been a dying artist on The Americans lately, and does both characters wonderfully. In the trailer, it looks like she might finally meet a nice guy who actually likes her.

Hilary Duff in Younger

Hilary Duff plays Kelsey, Liza’s best friend at work. She feels betrayed by the lie. So does the big boss Charles (Peter Hermann), who is in love with Liza.

Liza’s very young boyfriend Josh (Nico Tortorella) seems more into the betrayal than he normally has been. He’s known Liza’s secret for a while.

The final main character in the ensemble is Maggie (Debi Mazar), Liza’s roommate. Maggie’s known Liza forever and knows her true story and her college-age daughter.

There has always been a lot of meat on the bones of Younger and its exploration of age in America, especially age as it applies to American women. If you aren’t already a fan of this comedy series, I urge you to become one.

Big Kudos to Nico Tortorella

A special shout out to Nico for his thoughts and comments in regard to “gender fuckery” at the GLAAD Awards. It makes me appreciate his acting on Younger even more than I did before. He’s living his truth in a way that Liza on Younger has only begun to do.

gender fuckery. it is a privilege for me to be able to wear this stunning @csiriano lewk standing next to my twin flame @bethanycmeyers for the @glaad media awards. it is a privilege i have for a multitude of reasons. the color of skin, my ability to pass as straight and cisgendered, my socioeconomic status, my celebrity, my location, my body, my face, my partner. a privilege to be able to show up to an event like this and then to throw on shorts, vans, tube socks, a t-shirt and beanie to walk my dogs safely in new york city. a privilege so many people in this world who identify as trans and non-binary simply do not have. this weekend was for them. this weekend was for femmes, boys questioning what boy means, and women. last night was for you. last night was for every gender nonconforming transfeminine warrior beauty of all shapes and color. you are valid. you are worth it. you do not deserve the constant harassment and bashing you endure on a daily basis. i see you today and everyday. i am you. i love you. i am here for you. not just to tell you that you look beautiful but to help keep you alive. i’m going to end this with a quote from my dear friend @alokvmenon from their book FEMME IN PUBLIC – “what feminine part of yourself did you have to destroy in order to survive in this world?” we shouldn’t have to simply survive, we should ALL be able to live. i love you again. ALL OF IT IS YOU. #niconiconico #glaadawards #glaad #glaadmediaawards #allofitisyou
