Lost Girl season 5 started in one kind of hell and ended in another. There was plenty of excitement along the way. Bo sort of got Kenzi back, but not in a good way. Tamsin tried to help, but not in a good way. Kenzi got sent back to her body, but not in a good way. And Bo’s father wants her, but not in a good way.
Here’s the story in pictures. Spoilers abound, but not in elaborate detail.
Bo (Anna Silk) finds the hell shoe in an eagle’s nest.
Tamsin (Rachel Skarsten) can’t/won’t explain anything about Valhalla to Bo.
Trick (Rick Howland) had the second Hell shoe all the time. Dyson (Kris Holden-Ried) wants to help get Kenzi back. Aww, he loves Kenzi, too.
Lauren (Zoie Palmer) wants to monitor Bo in Valhalla, but Bo can’t wait for all the science and puts on both shoes. A bright flash and she’s gone. But one good thing – Bo gave Lauren an A+ for singing in French.
Valhalla is a fancy Toronto hotel presided over by a Valkyrie named Freyja (Michelle Nolden). Commence “The Shining” now.
Bo finds Kenzi (Ksenia Solo) eating chocolate in a couture dress. They get all girly and squee while eating 5 star hotel foods.
Tamsin wants forgiveness from her Mistress/Ruler. Nope. No forgiveness unless you Valkyrie up and act like you’re supposed to act: murderous.
Tamsin goes back to the dark side. Eyes both brown and blue? Yeah, got her. She’s yours.
Here’s Tam-Tam, looking to get right with the head Valkyrie by acting like Jack Nicholson.
Bo puts a halt to the ax swinging with some Succubus charm. Tamsin admits she loves her new family and hates what Valhalla does to her. Bo is teaching her the meaning of love.
Kenzi’s throwing a wedding and Hale is invited. Bo wants Kenzi to be happy, even if it means staying in Valhalla with Hale. Plus, that dress! Wow.
Is that Hale? Bo is suspicious. Whoever it is disappears in a flash of light. Guess the wedding’s off. Kenzi decides to go back to Fae-halla with Bo.
With Tamsin’s journal, some Valkyrie hair and a lot of unrecognizable chanting, Dyson and Lauren might get into Valhalla.
Lauren goes a little Fae herself at the gates of Valhalla, but she and Dyson don’t rescue anyone. Yet.
Sorry Bo-Bo, but since you can’t have the unclaimed human, you’re outta here. Poof off in a tunnel of flame. For some reason, the Labrys necklace stays behind.
Freyja returns Kenzi to her body, currently ensconced in a coffin. Kenzi has matches, a knife, and a cloth Bo gave her as wedding gifts. Can she get out with that? Buffy climbed out with less.
Bo takes the elevator to meet the man she presumes is her father and who caused this whole mess just to put Bo where he could get to her.
Some Thoughts
At the end of the episode it lists Ksenia Solo as a special guest star, not as a regular. Are they teasing us? That does not make me happy. UPDATE: Huffington Post Canada published an interview with Ksenia Solo stating, “Kenzi will be appearing in less than half of the 16 episodes.” That explains the special guest star listing and breaks my heart a little bit.
Part 2 of “Like Hell” is next. From the title, I’m assuming we are still dealing with Valhalla issues. Will Kenzi get out of the coffin? Is Lauren now Fae? Where’s Bo – she’s not back in Fae land and she was thrown out of Valhalla. What is she going to find at the end of that elevator ride?
Funny Stuff
In the beginning of the episode when Lauren goes to Tamsin for information about Valhalla, Tamsin tells her to eat a sack of tits. When Lauren says, “What did you say?” Tamsin repeats “Eat. A. Sack. Of. Tits.” This is meant to be a way to shut Lauren up.
Tits (or as Dorothy Snarker puts it, Boobs O’Clock) have always been an important part of the show. Really, the boobs on Lost Girl are often the 8th wonder of the world. This episode was all about tits, at least according to Twitter. Twitter was all tits.
The reference to tits turned into a hilarious series of tweets from the principal cast members during the show. Thanks to @BelindaMcD for catching it all.

I liked the episode the first go through, then on the second I decided I loved it. There were cringe worthy moments for me. The gang rape reference really was NOT necessary. Dyson, Lauren and Trick at the Dal talking Fea mythology felt like we were back in S4. Once Bo got to Valhalla things improved dramatically. My Kenzi sense was tingling and I knew Kenzi was going to make an appearance. Her part in eps 1 was bigger then I thought it would be. Im hopeful she will be in atleast half the episodes, if not all.
I loved crazy Tam Tam. Somebody on this show needs to be either crazy or dark to keep the other characters on thier toes. I also loved that Kenzi ended up in the casket. It would have been easy to just email her back to the crackshack, but instead they added drama to her return to earth by putting her 6 feet beneath it. Lauren and Dyson have to hurry to get her out before her air runs out.
Looks like to me that Lauren, Dyson, and Kenzi (maybe Trick to) are going to be targets for the gods of the underworld this year. My guess all season long we will see them in very scary and potentially deadly situations.
Since Lauren was holding the Valkyrie hair she temporialy assumed Valkryie powers when her and Dyson stepped onto Valhalla soil. That is why she went all skull face. Once she dropped the hair she returned to normal. Looks like Lauren and Dyson have some explaining to do for tresspassing in the underworld. Bad shit is going to happen.
I think that we will see Hale in one episode at some point.
Big yes to everything you said. One point you didn’t mention was Lauren’s remark to Tamsin that she might be Fae. (I hope not a Valkyrie.) Now that Lauren can turn Fae human and human Fae, I think she’s going to join the Fae. She may take Kenzi along with her. That would give them both a way to live the long lifetime that it would take to be with Bo forever once she completes her journey.
Boy, is it nice to have a Bo back who is in charge and knows what she’s doing!
Im going to rewatch this eps a couple more times. I missed some of the sutle things LG had in the eps. Like the TRUE LOVE sign behind Lauren when she is standing in front of the graffiti wall. The arrow points directly to her. It can’t be a coincidence, but it could also be just a tease on the producers side.
