The Great is a rowdy and ribald comedy based very loosely on the story of Catherine the Great of Russia. It bills itself as “an occasionally true story.” There really was a Catherine the Great of Russia. Stop there. That was the true part.

Review: The Report

I finally got around to watching The Report on Prime Video on the day we all waited for results from the Iowa caucuses, the day of the SOTU address, and the day before the Senate’s final vote on the President’s impeachment trial. It was a good day to watch this film and be reminded that it may take a while, but we usually do the right thing.

Lost in Space, season 2, returns with the Robinson family and their always perilous efforts to reach Alpha Centauri and safety. There are nonstop thrills and excitement for the younger fans, and themes about love, family, loyalty, and immigration for the older fans.

Review: Unforgiven (2009)

Unforgiven, the Unforgiven I’m talking about, is not a Western. It’s a 3 part drama from 2009 and the BBC starring Suranne Jones. I wandered into a conversation about it on Twitter with @gingesbecray and learned that not only does it star Suranne Jones – really all the recommendation a series needs – but it was written by Sally Wainwright.
